BIO Priming Oil

DESCRIPTION: Penetrating oil for priming all absorbent interior surfaces, especially new wood, cork and unglazed stone tiles. Very suitable as a preliminary treatment for waxed, varnished or oiled finishes. For final oiled finish use Bio Natural Wood Oil or Bio Teak Oil.

PREPARATION: Do not apply coatings to unseasoned or wet timber. Wood should be well sanded, dry and cleaned of greasy, waxy and dirty contaminants using BIO Thinner. Round off sharp edges. It is also good practice to prime back surfaces.  Hardwoods and timbers rich in natural oils, waxes, acids and terpenes should be degreased using Bio Thinner, because these substances may mix with the varnish and prolong its drying time. Let dry for 24 hours. Imperfect coats may require complete stripping before applying BIO Products.

APPLICATION:  Brush thinly and evenly, working varnish well into the grain. Do not apply more oil than the surface can absorb. Maintain a wet edge when painting. Remove excess oil with a dry lint free cloth after approx. 15-30 minutes. Test the absorbency of the surface before application: for very absorbent timber, work in small areas otherwise the oil might dry before you are able to wipe off the excess, causing an uneven patchy finish. Low temperature and humid conditions prolong the drying time. Do not paint below +10C and or above 80% humidity, in cold damp conditions,  when condensation, rain, dew or frost are likely to occur or hot days, direct sunlight and hot surfaces.  Provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Reaches maximum durability after 21 days.

DRYING: Can be sanded after 24 hours, after which time treatment can continue. However, the oil takes up to 72 hours to dry completely.

COVERAGE: 1 Litre covers approx. 10-12 sqm. Note: Coverage varies greatly with the absorbency of the material being primed. Cross-cut and other open-grained surfaces require considerably more oil.

CLEANING: Use BIO Thinner.

PACKAGING: 1, 4 and 20 Litres.

INGREDIENTS: Plant oils.

STORAGE: Keep tightly sealed in a cool and dry place. Surface skin may develop in opened cans.

DISPOSAL: Do not pour left over oil down the drain. Unwanted oil should be brushed out on newspaper, allowed to dry and then disposed of via domestic waste collection. Let empty container dry out as well and dispose via recycling program.

PRECAUTION: Keep away from open flames and out of the reach of children. Please dispose of used rags in a sealed metal container. Can spontaneously combust.
