DESCRIPTION: A hard, elastic, semi-transparent
varnish for use on timber surfaces exposed to sun and rain. It is
resistant to dirt and moisture.
PROTECTION: Protection against weather and
wood-destroying ultra-violet light. 3 coats are recommended.
Minimum dry film thickness on an even smooth surface: 60 micron,
better 100 micron. Box frames, timber windows, cladding and end
grains must be treated B E F O R E INSTALLATION with one coat
of BIO Wood Primer and one coat of BIO Wood Varnish clear. It
is also good practice to prime back surfaces. Reapply once the
finish appears to become dull.
PRIMING: For fungi and insect treatment use BIO
WOOD PROTECTING BORAX. Before painting, wipe off the surplus of
Borax with a damp cloth, otherwise surface residue may inhibit
paint adhesion.
PREPARATION: Prepare surface in accordance with AS
2311 Painting of Buildings. Do not apply coatings to unseasoned or
wet timber. Wood and other surfaces should be well sanded, dry and
cleaned of greasy, waxy and dirty contaminants using BIO Thinner.
Round off sharp edges. Imperfect coats may require complete
stripping before applying BIO products. Hardwoods and other timbers
rich in natural oils, waxes, acids and terpenes should be degreased
using BIO Thinner, because these substances may mix with the
varnish and prolong its drying time.
APPLICATION: Stir thoroughly before use with a
broad flat stirrer. Brush thinly and evenly working varnish well
into the grain. Maintain a wet edge when painting. Thick coats
wrinkle when dry. Avoid bubbles. Lightly sand between coats if
necessary with fine sandpaper. Allow 12 to 24 hours to dry between
coats. Low temperatures and humid conditions prolong the drying
time. Apply second and subsequent coats only after previous coat
has thoroughly dried. Do not use below +10 C and or above 80%
humidity, in cold damp conditions, when condensation,
rain, dew or frost are likely to occur or hot days, hot surfaces
and direct sunlight. Provide adequate ventilation during
application and drying. Reaches maximum durability after 8-14
days.
RE-COATING: Re-coating is recommended after
approximately 2 or 3 years, depending on the exposure to the
weather.
CLEANING: Clean with BIO Thinner.
COVERAGE: 1 Litre covers approx. 10-12 sqm.
