DESCRIPTION : Bio Aqua Enamel Lacquer is a dirt and
water-repellent, gloss or semi matt painted finish, containing no
toxic solvents, resins or heavy metals. It is suitable for use on
all wood types, steel, aluminium and copper.
PREPARATION : Prepare the surface in accordance
Australian Standard 2311 Painting of Buildings. Do not apply
coatings to unseasoned or wet timber. Surfaces and already painted
surfaces in gloss or Semi gloss paint should be well sanded, dry
and cleaned of greasy, waxy and dirty contaminants using BIO
Thinner. Round off sharp edges. It is also good practice to
prime back surfaces. Hardwoods and other timbers rich in
natural oils, waxes, acids and terpenes should be degreased using
Bio Thinner because these substances may mix with the paint and
prolong its drying time. Imperfect coatings may require complete
stripping before applying BIO products. Timber moisture content
must be under 15% for softwood, and under 12% for hardwood. Fill
imperfections and cracks with a suitable filler.
APPLICATION: Stir thoroughly before use with a broad flat
stirrer. Apply one coat of Undercoat and two coats of topcoat.
Minimum dry film thickness is 100 microns. Maintain a wet edge when
painting. Best results are achieved using thin coats. Thick coats
will cause runs to appear.
VARIATION OF USES:
METAL PRIMER : Provides anti-corrosive protection for
steel, aluminum, brass and copper. Not effective on zinc and
galvanized surfaces. The metal should be cleaned of all grease,
dirt, processing soil, salt residues, weld scale, rust and other
residue which is likely to affect the performance of a protective
coating. Apply 1-2 coats of Metal Primer thinly and evenly. Lightly
sand between coats when completely dry. Finish with Bio Enamel
Lacquer, white or coloured.
DRYING : Drying time on a day of around 25°C is
approx. 2-4 hours. During cold and humid weather allow longer
drying time. Apply second and subsequent coats only after previous
coat has thoroughly dried. Do not be tempted to apply paint too
thickly, as this retards the drying process. Lightly sand if
necessary after the undercoat. Do not use below 12°C and above 80%
humidity, in cold damp conditions, when condensation, rain, dew or
frost are likely to occur or hot days, direct sunlight or hot
surfaces. Provide adequate ventilation during application and
drying. Avoid steam and condensation for 48 hours. Reaches maximum
durability after 8-14 days
